Good afternoon,
Editions Verde is thrilled to announce the release of “To Be Worthy of Pessoa” — composed by Luke Martin and performed by Ordinary Affects — on CD+liner notes by Morgan Evans-Weiler/digital on March 14, 2025. The 75 minute 2-track album takes inspiration (and quotations) from Fernando Pessoa’s The Book of Disquiet. Evans-Weiler’s essay poetically connects Pessoa’s words and these recordings:
"Martin’s music, in its stillness and consistency, is a place for concepts to incubate and for simple sounds to pass by. Pessoa/Soares and Martin are all philosophers as artists; their works form questions through doubt but seek hope for new forms and a potential but fleeting cohesion of an Idea. The floating impermanence of Martin’s work and Pessoa’s "Disquiet," is an active search; a space where moments coincide, thoughts mature, doubts multiply - a place where truth and the new are sought but also a place where it’s ok if we just have and embrace an experience."
Ordinary Affects is Morgan Evans-Weiler (violin), Francesca Caruso (violin), Jordan Dykstra (viola), Laura Cetilia (cello), Luke Martin (acoustic guitar), J. P. A. Falzone (vibraphone), and Luke Damrosch (farfisa organ).
For now,
Jordan
